Emergency services called to collision involving pedestrian and motorbike in New Road, Chatham

Emergency services responded to an incident on a busy main road following a collision involving a motorbike and a pedestrian.

Police and ambulance crews were witnessed blocking off New Road, Chatham in both directions shortly after 6pm yesterday.

A man was seen receiving medical treatment at the scene near the probation office, at the junction with Clover Street.

A police spokesperson said: “The force was called at 5.44pm on Thursday, May 9, to a collision in New Road, Chatham involving a motorbike and a pedestrian.

“Officers and paramedics attended the scene where the pedestrian was treated for injuries. He was taken to a local hospital for further medical attention.”

An eyewitness at the time told KentOnline that a black people carrier at the scene had a smashed windscreen.

They added: "There was a guy on the stretcher. He put his hands in the air a few times and was speaking to the officers at the scene.

"The stretcher was in the middle of the road near the traffic island.”
