An adventurer set off from Kent today on the
international leg of a round-the-world trip.

Norman Surplus hopes to be the first man to circumnavigate the
globe on an autogyro, an aircraft that looks like a cross between a
small plane and a helicopter.

Having started his trip in County Antrim, Northern Ireland,
Norman stopped off at Stoke Airfield in Medway last night.

Today, he embarks on the first part of his trip outside the UK,
heading towards Le Touquet in France.

The 47-year-old hopes to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK, after
making a dramatic recovery from the disease himself.

You can track Norman’s progress at his website, Gyrox Goes Global.
