Medway Christmas tractor run to make way through High Halstow, Hoo and Isle of Grain

Part of Kent is set to have its first-ever tractor run which will see dozens of Christmas decorated vehicles fill the roads.

The display is taking place on Saturday, December 23, at around 4pm in Grain, Rochester.

It is organised by Stoke Medway Airfield and will have around 30 tractors parade through the streets around the Hoo Peninsula.

The convoy will make its way towards Upper Stoke where it will begin to drive around the area anti-clockwise.

Key areas the parade will be visiting are: All Hallows at 5.30pm, High Halstow at 6pm, Hoo town centre at 7pm and finally ending back in Upper Stoke at 7.30pm.

Mince pies and hot chocolate will be on offer outside Hoo’s Co-Op store in Main Road, with all proceeds going to Gillingham Street Angels.

A fundraiser has been set up by the organiser with the hopes of raising £1,500 – currently, it’s raised just over £400.

The tractor run is hoping to follow suit of the “Light It Up” run organised by the Weald of Kent Young Farmers and held annually through the Goudhurst, Marden, Staplehurst, and Cranbrook.

Describing the run, the brains behind it told visitors: “All the tractors and owners are doing this for free to bring some festive spirit to the peninsula, all for a worthy cause.

“They do great work helping and supporting those less fortunate than ourselves which is what Christmas is all about right?

“We know times are tough right now for everyone but if you could spare anything you have to support this worthy cause then anything would be appreciated.”
