The closures, which are scheduled until Saturday, March 11, will take place between 8pm and 6am.

The tunnel was last closed in January, but shortly before, in December, a systems failure forced it to close for emergency repairs leaving drivers facing gridlock for two days.

Medway Council says that the maintenance closures usually happen early in March, June, September and December, but this can change due to requirements or other works.
