Coronavirus Kent: Bus timetable changes on Medway Arriva services this Saturday

More changes to bus timetables come into force tomorrow as one firm continues to try to keep key routes open.

Arriva is continuing to run a reduced bus service in all areas it operates to serve local communities as much as possible.

Changes to Saturday timetables in the Medway Towns come into effect this Saturday (May 9).

Oliver Monahan, area managing director from Arriva, said: “At Arriva we are at the centre of our local communities and are committed to running vital services so key workers can get to and from work.

"We are listening to customer’s feedback daily to constantly review and tailor our services to meet their needs.

"We are acutely aware of the vital role public transport plays in keeping these key workers moving and will continue to prioritise these key routes.

"We also appreciate that we might not get it right everywhere so please get in touch with us if you feel we can help.”

Bus drivers have been dressing up in capes and super hero costumes to raise a cheer on their journeys.

Last week Batman was spotted dropping passengers around Lordswood in Chatham.

Arriva is urging people to travel in line with the latest government advice and to keep checking the website at www.arrivabus.co.uk/coronavirus-ks for up-to-date bus times for now and future travel, as Arriva amends its service to meet demand and key worker requirements.

They have also asked passengers to use contactless payment to protect drivers and other customers during the pandemic.

“We are also committed to keeping our passengers and workforce safe," Mr Monahan added.

"Our drivers will only accept cash in exceptional circumstances and again we’d ask that the correct fare is paid as drivers will no longer be able to give change.

"I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all our staff who continue to provide such an essential service to the community.”
