Chatham boss Kevin Watson says the club could go back in for Stuart Zanone at the end of the season.

Rochester striker Zanone rejected a move to Chats at the weekend but it may not be the end of the story.

Watson (pictured) said: "I had a decent discussion with Stuart and made him an offer that was better than the money he was on at Rochester but he’s keen to finish the season there, plus he has various commitments.

"Maybe it could happen in the future, particularly if we get moved back over to Ryman South next season and don’t have so much travelling."

Watson is waiting on the fitness of new signing Miles Cornwall ahead of Chats’ Ryman League, Division 1 North home game against second-bottom Redbridge on Saturday.

Striker Cornwall made his debut in the Kent Senior Cup defeat by Charlton but was injured during a farewell match for Bearsted last weekend.

Watson said: "He played for Bearsted as part of the agreement but took a kick just above the ankle.

"He was one of the top scorers in the Invicta League and is a good signing for us. He’s hungry for a chance at this level."
