Man dies after colliding with lorry at Station Road, in Strood

A man has died and another has been arrested after a lorry overturned.

Emergency services were called to Station Road in Strood at around 1.30pm yesterday after the Renault lorry hit a black Vauxhall.

Passers-by were seen rushing to help after the lorry overturned when trying to turn from Frindsbury Road into Station Road, and the road was closed in both directions.

Police, the ambulance service and firefighters attended the scene and the driver of the Vauxhall, who was a man in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and inquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Officers from Kent Police's serious collision investigation unit are appealing to anyone who saw what happened, or has relevant dashcam or CCTV footage, to come forward. You can submit dashcam footage here.
