Manslaughter charge following assault in Cuxton Road, Strood

A man has been charged with manslaughter after another was attacked near a town centre and died.

On Sunday, November 20, police officers cordoned off part of Cuxton Road, Strood, following reports a man had been assaulted.

The victim was left fighting for his life at a London hospital following the incident and later died.

Shpendi Hakili, 38, of Glasgow, has now been charged with manslaughter and appeared before Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.

Following the incident officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate launched an investigation and arrested a 45-year-old man two days later. He was later released without charge.

Mr Hakili was remanded in court and is due to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, April 17.
