Man arrested and knife found after police called to disturbance in Skinner Street, Gillingham

A man was arrested and a knife recovered after a reported disturbance.

Police were called to Skinner Street in Gillingham at 6.25am.

A spokesman said: "Officers attended and a 22-year-old man, from the Medway area, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed article.

"No injuries have been reported and the man remains in custody."

Kent Police Medway tweeted to say "numerous patrols" had responded to the call-out and a knife had been discovered in overgrowth.

"Great work with help from CCTV," the tweet added.

The man was later released on police bail until June 14.

Yesterday, armed police and the police helicopter were called to reports people were inside a house with a weapon in Wyles Street, Gillingham.

It is not believed the call-outs are linked.
