Man arrested as woman taken to hospital after boat crash near Medway Marina

A man has been arrested and a woman was taken to hospital after two boats crashed on the River Medway.

Police and ambulance crews were called just before 5pm to a report two boats had collided while travelling on the River Medway, near Medway Bridge Marina.

Officers attended alongside South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance and a woman was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 57-year-old man from Rochester was arrested in connection with the incident and he has since been released pending further inquiries.

SECAmb confirmed they were called at approximately 4.50pm to reports of a person injured on the water.

They say the injured woman was assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to Medway Maritime Hospital by road.

The air ambulance team joined the crew to help treat the patient, who had suffered injuries including a leg injury, en route to hospital.
