Chatham trampoline star Kat Driscoll bids for Olympic glory

All eyes will be on TV screens at Gillingham’s Jumpers Rebound Centre tonight when trampoline star Kat Driscoll bids for Olympic glory.

The competition begins at 6pm and Kat will be cheered on by members of her home club as she takes part in her second Games.

The 30-year-old, from Walderslade, started trampolining at the age of seven at Lordswood Leisure Centre before moving on to Jumpers.

At London 2012, the former Rochester Grammar School pupil missed out on the final by just one place.

Her parents, Mike and Pam Driscoll, have flown to Rio to watch their daughter.

Mr Driscoll, who works at Jumpers, said: “We’re a bit nervous but not in the same way we were last time.

“Once you’ve been through that experience you get ready for things to happen.”

He added that his daughter had “some unfinished business” after the disappointment of 2012, “but I think she’s finding it a bit easier, having been through this before, she almost knows what to expect”.
