It was witnessed by James Freeman who has now set up a petition calling on Medway Council to install traffic-calming measures.

It has so far attracted more than 135 signatures.

Resident Mr Freeman says the accident happened two weeks ago and he believes everyone got out okay.

He also explained his motorbike was written-off by a speeding motorist.

He said: "There's been so many times where cars have just effectively come out of nowhere, and as you start to cross the road between two cars, they just come flying.

"There's been occasions where literally people will have their windows down, they've nearly took me out, and laughed as they went along.

"There's been some very close calls where I've had to pull my children off the road back in between the cars, to keep them safe."

He added his preferred option would be to see a one-way system with speed bumps put in.

Speaking about the response to the petition, he said: "People are saying, unfortunately, it's not just our area, there's other wards where this is happening and it's a case of we need to do something before somebody gets seriously injured.

"It shouldn't take somebody being killed or seriously injured before action is taken."

The petition can be found here.
