Invicta Dynamos defeated the Cardiff ENL Devils 7-2 in Gillingham on Saturday night to leapfrog the Welsh side into fourth place in the ENIHL South Division 1.

But 24 hours later they failed to take the opportunity to open a two-point gap over the Devils when they suffered a 4-2 defeat at Milton Keynes Thunder.

On Saturday, it was the Devils who opened the scoring through Stephen Deacon but Dynamos levelled before the end of the first period through Andy Smith.

Dynamos then raced into a 5-1 lead through goals from Ryan Ellis, Michael Timms, man-of-the-match Daniel Fudger and Justin Noble before Cardiff made it 5-2 at the end of the second period when Jordan Powell's long range effort was deflected past goalie Andy Moffatt.

Dynamos created a string of chances in the final period but had to settle for just two more goals from Callum Best and Callum Fowler as they moved into the fourth place position which, if they hang on to it, will mean crucial home advantage in the second leg of the first round in the play-offs.

On Sunday, Ellis and Best were again amongst the goals but it wasn't enough to prevent Invicta slipping to another disappointing defeat against a side in the bottom half of the table.
