Owners desperate to find missing pet parrot Molly who loves pizza and whistles The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

A pizza-loving parrot who can whistle the theme tune to the Good, The Bad and The Ugly, has taken flight, leaving her owner desperate to find her.

Molly was swept away by high winds when out playing fetch with her owner.

The African grey was adopted as a baby by Robert Wells eight years ago.

But while Mr Wells and his feathered friend were out playing Molly’s favourite game in the garden, a huge gust of wind lifted her over his house and out of sight.

Mr Wells, 45, said: “I’m absolutely devastated. Obviously I ran after her. She was flapping and she can glide, but her wings were clipped as a baby, so she couldn’t fly through it.

“I saw her carried a few streets over and then lost her completely.”

Molly, with her grey plumage and flash of red in the tail feathers, is very distinctive but does have other unusual qualities which set her apart from the rest.

When she was just a few weeks old she trapped her foot in her cage and lost two of toes on her right foot.

Her owners at the time took her to the vet, but left her when they were presented with an £800 bill for the treatment.

Mr Wells, of Merrals Wood Road, Strood, worked at Manyhoots Bird Rescue Centre, which took her in and paid.

When Manyhoots closed down because the owner contracted cancer, he adopted her – along with 16 owls, two kestrels and a macaw.

The father-of-two added: “She is very loving and humanised and she loves attention.

“I had to watch my dinner with her though – she loves pizza and would nick it off my plate if I wasn’t looking. Tea as well, she would dunk her head in my cup and drink it as soon as I sat down.

“She loves to whistle too, and would start as soon as we came home from work.”

Among her favourite tunes is the theme from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly starring Clint Eastwood, and also the McDonald’s jingle “I’m Loving It”.

Mr Wells said: “I don’t even know where she got these from, it must have just been from the TV, but the house is far too quiet without her.

"She’s got so much character and what worries me is if somebody found her I think they’d just fall in love and keep her.

“But she is missed here and my macaw is pining for her, too.”

With his wife Simona, who is also bird mad, he has been knocking on doors and putting up posters around the neighbourhood, but it has been a few weeks now and there is still no sign of their precious Molly.

African greys live around 70 years. Molly is microchipped and the couple are offering a £500 reward. Call 07717 797874.
