Man's body pulled from River Medway close to B&M Bargains in Chatham

A man's body has been pulled from the River Medway after emergency services launched a major operation.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called out at about 10.30am and cordoned off an area next to Chatham's B&M Bargains store.

The incident was centred on the car park of the budget store, with 11 emergency vehicles parked close to the Sun Pier in the town centre.

Officers in at least eight police cars joined firefighters and the ambulance service at the scene.

Witnesses said they could see forensic officers searching the pier off Medway Street.

Police say the man's death is not being treated as suspicious and a report has been completed for the coroner.
