Adam Dingsdale stepped up preparations for his debut professional fight by sparring with the European, British and Commonwealth bantamweight champion Jamie McDonnell last weekend.

Hoo's Dingsdale, who makes his bow in the lightweight division next month, is hoping to learn what he can from his stablemate McDonnell. Both will be fighting at the Doncaster Dome on Friday, November 4.

"I like his work rate and his fitness, it’s brilliant," said Dingsdale, after McDonnell travelled south to the Unique Boxing Club to have a session in the ring and pass on some advice to some of the other young hopefuls.

"He can certainly hit hard," Dingsdale added.

Matthew Simms, from the Unique Fitness Centre and Fight School, said: "Jamie is ranked No.1 in Britain and No.1 in Europe.

"He is ranked No.6 in the world and it is a great honour to have such a high- class professional boxer visiting the area and raising spirits of up and coming local boxers."

Dingsdale meets experienced fighter Kristian Laight in his debut outing.
