Rochester High Street transformed for Netflix filming

A high street has been transformed into a different town for a Netflix production.

After having its shop fronts changed to look like Windsor, Rochester High Street is set to close tomorrow for filming.

Cheran’s Bakery, which recently opened at the former Love Brownies shop, is one of the stores to get the movie makeover.

Taking to Facebook, owner, Cheran Friedman said: “The shop will be closed this Thursday and Friday as something exciting is happening. I can’t reveal anything yet, but Friday afternoon, I will tell all.”

It has been speculated that Netflix is filming an instalment of its hit series The Crown.

The High Street shops have been given new names, with one saying ‘Nancy’s Cakes of Windsor’ and another reading ‘De Farge & Manette’.

The High Street by Cheran’s bakery is scheduled to be closed from 6am until 8pm on Friday, April 21.

The road next to the Ye Arrow pub on the way to Rochester Castle will be closed from 9.30am until 3pm on Friday April 21.

Medway Council was unable to comment on the closure.

The Kent Film Office said that although it was initially involved in supporting the production in finding suitable locations, it was not involved in the actual facilitation of locations, which was handled by various offices at Medway Council.

Netflix has also been approached for further information.
