Chatham man charged with firearms offences

A man has been charged with firearms offences after being searched by police on a routine patrol.

Lee Lurkins, of Luton Road, Chatham, came to the attention of officers from Medway’s Community Safety Unit at around 3pm in Boundary Road on Tuesday.

He was searched and arrested on suspicion of drug and firearms offences.

Lurkins was charged with possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and cannabis, and possession of a prohibited weapon.

The 39-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Wednesday) where he was remanded to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday, April 19.
