Graphic designer Louise Pudwell paints graphic message on Medway Police Station sign

A graphic designer who carried out a hate campaign against police because she was unhappy about the way they had handled a complaint daubed offensive graffiti onto Medway Police Station.

Louise Pudwell, 40, also stamped on a policewoman’s foot and sent at least one threatening email to a police sergeant after she was believed to have been in a reported road rage incident.

Pudwell, of Shakespeare Road, Gillingham, appeared before magistrates in Medway this week, after previously pleading guilty to five charges.

After her revenge campaign, she was charged with two counts of criminal damage, two counts of assault on a police officer and one charged of sending a threatening email.

“She regrets her actions and was upset. She also regrets how it came across and understands the police do a good job" - Natalie Brown, defending

Debbie Jones, prosecuting, told the court Pudwell caused more than £4,200 damage to the police station sign when she wrote in yellow the word ‘c***s’ on it and the station wall.

Miss Jones added: “She also threw a stone at a police vehicle, assaulted two police officers and stamped on a woman officer’s feet.”

“During police interview she denied the allegations.”

Natalie Brown, defending, told the court her client had mental health issues at the time of the incident, was distressed by the lack of police action and had not taken her medication but was now in “a happier place”.

Miss Brown added: “She regrets her actions and was upset. She also regrets how it came across and understands the police do a good job.”

Magistrates placed Pudwell on a 12-month community order which will see her take part in an anger management course.

She was also placed under curfew for three months and ordered to pay £250 compensation towards the repair of the sign and £150 compensation to the police officers.

Pudwell was also ordered to pay £235 in court costs.
