Gillingham 'assault' victim dies

A man has died following an alleged assault in Gillingham. Saulius Klevinskas, 35, was injured in Balmoral Road last Saturday, August 21.

Mr Klevinskas, who is orginally from Lithuania, suffered serious head injuries and was being treated in the intensive care unit at Medway Maritime Hospital.

He died at about 10pm on Thursday.

Ruben White, 21, is accused of attacking Mr Klevinskas.

White, of Kingswood Road, Gillingham, who has been charged with grievous bodily harm, denied the charge at Medway Magistrates' Court.

He was refused bail and is due to reappear on Tuesday, August 31.

Three other men arrested in connection with the assault have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police say White, may now face further charges in relation to the matter.
