Flip Out at The Quays, Chatham Maritime, is offering free complimentary weekly passes for families caught up in the travel firm's demise.

Richard Beese, the co-owner of the franchise, said: "We want to brighten up the lives of people caught up in this nightmare.

"We have 27 locations all over the UK with more on the way and each store will be giving away 40 family passes to round off their holiday and have a bit of fun in what must be a difficult period for all those who have lost out."

A hair salon is also offering members of staff from the travel company the chance to get prepared for their job interviews.

Nicky Hayward, who owns and teaches at Medway Hair Academy in Priory Road, Strood, posted her appeal on Facebook group Medway Random Acts of Kindness.

Nicky, who has run the academy for three years, said: "I just thought it's devastating for people and if it was me, I would like to think that people would help out."

Earlier in the week, Kings Hill Nails Beauty Lounge and Saks Hair and Beauty posted a similar offer on their social media pages.

A mother from Wayfield who has stage four cancer and her daughter were able to reprise their dream of going to Disneyland after Eurostar offered them the chance to re-book their cancelled holiday.

The holiday had originally been crowd funded via Facebook group Medway Together.

Thomas Cook ceased trading on Monday, September 23, after 178 years, leaving 22,000 people worldwide without jobs, including 9,000 in the UK.

More than 150,000 Brits have been stranded abroad and people at home were unsure as to whether they would get their money back for future trips.
