Firefighters tackle chimney fire in Vicarage Lane, Hoo

Firefighters tackled a chimney blaze in Hoo this morning.

A crew was called to as semi-detached house in Vicarage Lane just before 10.30am.

Firefighters used chimney gear to put out the fire in the chimney stack and gave safety advice to residents.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service are reminding residents with open fires to make sure they have their chimney's swept at least once a year, or more frequently if they burn wood, to clear soot build up which can lead to chimney fire.
