Fashion designer Zandra Rhodes will return to where she began her career with a talk at Rochester's University for the Creative Arts.

The Chatham-born icon - famous for her colourful dress sense - graduated from the campus, formerly the College of Design, in 1961.

She has gone on to dress some of the world's most famous people, including Princess Diana, Freddie Mercury, Lauren Bacall, Sarah Jessica-Parker, Kylie Minogue and Paris Hilton.

Zandra, who became the UCA's first chancellor last May, will speak about her career at the campus on Thursday, March 17.

She said: "It's always special to go back to your old school or college, but can you imagine how I will feel going back as chancellor of the university?

"My years at Medway were my formative years and shaped me into what I am today. The caring, dedicated staff guided and nurtured me and I learned the basics that have carried me through the rest of my life."

Zandra will also be special guest at the 10th Pride in Medway gala night on February 19. Her talk, from 6pm, is free and open to the public.
