Elderly woman taken to hospital after being found unconscious in Chatham

Emergency services were called after an elderly woman was found unconscious on a Chatham street.

Passers-by discovered the woman - believed to be in her 80s - unconscious in a chair wearing a onesie and a blanket in Magpie Hall Road, Chatham, at about 5.30am today.

"I was driving along when I saw her in the chair and a lady was approaching her, so I went to help," said Keith Thompson, who was one of the first on the scene.

"About three police cars turned up and about five police officers couldn't get her to wake up."

Police say officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and the woman was taken to Medway hospital as a precaution.
