Levi Steady, from Gillingham, stabbed mum in the head

A man stabbed his mother in the head after he spent the evening drinking, a court heard.

Levi Steady admitted unlawful wounding when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday.

The 22-year-old, of Patrixbourne Avenue, Gillingham, denied the more serious charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

His mother was treated by paramedics after suffering a wound to the top of her head on January 25. She was also slashed on the hand.

Remanding Steady in custody, Judge Julian Smith said: “You accept you did cause injury. I don’t know how serious those wounds were and that needs to be established.

“You were drinking heavily that night, and it seems you have a tendency to drink pretty heavily.”

The case was adjourned until March 1.
