Drone footage has captured the arrival of emergency services to the incident shortly after 5pm

One witness described hearing a "bang" before the arrival of two fire engines at a car park near the town railway station.

Crews wore breathing apparatus and used main jets and hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

Police were also seen arriving at the adjacent car park shortly after where they controlled traffic.

By 6.10pm the fire had been extinguished.

No casualties were reported and the cause is not yet known.

A spokeswoman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: "Duty of care was left with the site owner."
