Drink-driver crashed while four times over limit

DRUNK driver Julian Bishop was today contemplating a sober birthday after being caught behind the wheel more than four times the legal limit.

The chairman of Medway magistrates court, Reginald Hughes said it was one of the worst cases of drink-driving he had heard. Bishop, who is 36 tomorrow, drove through Medway after a drinking session.

He was caught when he crashed his Daewoo in Forge Lane, Gillingham, just before 8pm on Wednesday.

A reading showed Bishop had 156mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath.

The service engineer from Norman Close, Wigmore, Gillingham, will return for sentencing on Wednesday, January 8.
