Dashcam footage captures shocking moment quad bike rider narrowly misses traffic in New Road Avenue, Chatham

Shocking dashcam footage has emerged of “idiotic” motorcyclists performing dangerous "dirt bike” manoeuvres in a busy main road.

Four motorbikes and a quad bike were filmed as they recklessly drove down New Road Avenue, Chatham.

In the footage the four-wheeled vehicle is shown careering into the middle of the road, narrowly avoiding the traffic and forcing a driver to stop abruptly.

Tim Richards captured the footage on his dashcam yesterday (July 10), at around 1pm.

The Medway resident said he was “disappointed at the level of driving” as he believes there was a young child on the back of the quad bike.

He told KentOnline: “The idiotic level of driving by the young lads and adults on these motorbikes using manoeuvres more suited to a dirt bike track nearly caused a catastrophic accident.

“It is only a matter of time before they or a bystander is seriously hurt.

“They came up the inside of the stationary traffic then cut across the car and into the oncoming traffic, 20 seconds and he would have been across the windscreen of my car.”

Mr Richards posted the footage on social media and others remarked they had spotted the same “selfish and reckless” group elsewhere in Medway.

One claimed: “They went through Rochester High Street at speed doing wheelies the other day.

“It's one thing if they injure themselves but the problem is the elderly or young who don't react quickly.

Another added: “They were going past Strood retail park all wheeling. Kinda awkward to watch especially when their moobs went higher then the wheels.”
