Do you recognise this distinctive crash helmet?

If so, you may be able to help police identify the man wearing it.

This CCTV image of him was taken as he robbed a Texaco petrol station on Walderslade Road, Chatham.

Medway police have issued the images after the helmet-clad man went behind the counter, threatened staff with what is believed to be a hammer and stole cash and cigarettes.

No one was injured during the raid.

DI Ann Lisseman, said: "The man threatened staff and the incident was over very quickly.

"The thief was wearing a black hooded top with grey tracksuit bottoms and had a white crash helmet on with blue and white stripes.

"We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw a man entering the garage forecourt area."

The robbery happened at about 5.50pm on Wednesday, September 8.
