Householders in Medway will have to pay an average of 60p a week extra in council tax to Medway Council.

The budget papers were released today and show a 2.95 per cent increase in council tax for the average Band D property.

The council is promising a tougher regime on parking to raise £200,000 in extra fines to help balance the books.

A fundamental review of the organisation - the fifth in its 11 year life - is underway with services like housing and planning under the spotlight.

The rises are subject to approval by the cabinet on February 16 and the majority of the council agreeing on February 25.
