The team behind the new Sherlock Holmes film have been back in Chatham under the cover of darkness.

The Historic Dockyard was once again a hive of activity when the crew for the action-packed sequel went about filming this week.

A huge crane was set up next to the main car park on Tuesday and, as the cameras began to roll, a stunt man was lowered above one of the former Dockyard basins before jumping into the water.

The cast and crew spent several days shooting in Chatham last year and it is believed the latest visit was to film additional scenes for the movie, which is due to be released this December.

The Warner Bros blockbuster stars Robert Downey Jr as Holmes and Jude Law as his sidekick Dr Watson.

Scenes from the first Sherlock Holmes film, which grossed more than £300 million at the box office, were filmed at the Dockyard in 2008.
