Claire's shuts in Pentagon Centre, Chatham

Accessories and jewellery shop Claire's has shut its store in Chatham's Pentagon Centre.

The accessories and jewellery retailer, which also sells make-up and hair items, has officially closed the branch to customers.

A hand-written sign has been posted on the door of the shuttered premises stating that it was shut permanently.

The nearest shop is at the Dockside Outlet Centre in Chatham.

There is also a branch at Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre.

Claire's is an American retailer primarily aimed at teenage girls with a glitter and bling theme.

It was founded in 1961 and is based in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.

The latest closure comes not long after it was revealed the Canterbury branch was poised to shut.

The accessories chain had a long presence in the high street but its unit next to McDonald’s was set to change hands.
