Police appeal for witnesses after cigarettes and cash were stolen from Kent Mart, Maidstone Road, Rochester

Police are appealing for witnesses after a large number of cigarette packets and a quantity of cash was stolen from a shop in Rochester.

The incident is thought to have happened at Kent Mart in Maidstone Road, close to the junction with Valley View Road, between 3am and 3.20am this morning.

A security shutter is said to have been forced open and the front door was smashed.

Officers have looked at CCTV footage and believe three men wearing dark clothing entered the shop while a fourth kept watch outside.

They are thought to have left the scene in a dark-coloured vehicle in the direction of Rochester town centre.
