When and where to see Christmas lights switched on in Medway in 2022

With less than two months to go until Christmas, it will not be long before the streets will be illuminated by festive sparkly lights.

Here is a guide to when they will be switched on across the Medway Towns...

Strood

Friday, November 18 is the date for the switch-on, with the lights due to go on at 5pm.

It will take place at Friary Place, on the high street, with Cllr Jan Aldous, the Mayor of Medway, present.

There will be family entertainment from 3.45pm and JJ from children's TV show CoComelon will be at the Strood community Hub from 2pm.

Booking, which is free, is essential for this, and can be done by calling 01634 337799.

Chatham

The big switch-on is due to be held on Saturday, November 19, at 5pm.

It will be at Military Square, in Military Road, and both the mayor and kmfm presenters will be there.

Family entertainment will be going on from 3.45pm and the cast of Snow White, Chatham’s Christmas panto, are also due to be in attendance.

Gillingham

The town's lights are due to go at 5pm on Friday, November 25 and there will be entertainment from 3.45pm.

This will take place at Smith Square, on the high street, and the mayor will present.

Bluey and Bingo from children's TV show Bingo will also be at the Gillingham Community hub from 2pm.

Lights will be switched on on Saturday, November 26, at 5pm.

This will be in the high street, at the Blue Boar Lane junction, and both the mayor and kmfm presenters will be there.

The Snow White panto cast will be hosting the event, and family entertainment will start from 3.45pm.

Rainham

The Christmas lights will be switched on 5pm on Friday, December 2 at the Rainham precinct.

Children will be able to meet and take pictures with Paddington Bear from 2pm at Rainham Library.
