chefs compete at Medway school tomorrow

Walderslade Girls’ School will host the Medway heat of The LACA (Local Authority Caterers Association) School Chef of the Year Competition tomorrow (Tuesday).

Six school chefs will compete in a 90-minute cook off where they will prepare a main course an pudding fit for an 11-year-old for £1.25 a head.

Cooking will start at 2.30pm with judging at 4pm.

There will be a panel of five judges including two 11-year-olds from nearby schools.

The meal has to comply with food and nutrient-based standards set by the Government.

Heidi Gould, Nutritionist at Medway Council, will also sit on the judging panel.

The winning Medway school chef will then go on to compete in the regional heat.
