Golfers from across Europe were at Chatham’s Snodhurst Bottom course last weekend to take part in the International Pitch & Putt Association’s Open Championship.

Snodhurst Bottom is one of the most challenging pitch and putt courses in the country and the event attracted a top-class field, including the winner of this year’s French Pitch & Putt Open and the 2008 British Strokeplay champion.

Spaniard Juan Fernandez Ardavin took the honours after ending three under par, while Chatham’s Danny Smith took an impressive fifth on nine over.

In the seniors, Dave Gabriel from Chatham took victory with 12 over and Mark Fromings from Crayford became junior champion with 11 over.

The Snodhurst Bottoem course in Walderslade Road has recently been refurbished and it is hoped that it will again be chosen to host the championship in 2011.
