A footballer is recovering well after being caught in the face with a boot and looking as though he had been 'cut with a knife'.

Anthony Hogg, a midfielder for Chatham Town FC, was taken to hospital after a challenge by a Leatherhead player on Saturday, February 5.

An ambulance was called and Hogg had plastic surgery to repair some of the damage.

Manager Paul Foley said this week: "The stitches are out, the scar is healing nicely, the swelling is still there and there is still a bit of pain with his jaw movement. We are not expecting him to return for at least another three weeks."
