Suspected sandwich thief recalled to prison after running from bakery in Chatham High Street

A suspected thief has been recalled to prison after he ran from a bakery in front of police officers.

The man was seen leaving the business in Chatham High Street carrying sandwiches and cakes at around 3pm on Monday.

Local constables, who were working in the town centre, suspected the food was stolen and detained the man following a short foot chase.

The 43-year-old, of no fixed address, was later recalled to prison for unconnected matters.
