A man has been charged after allegedly stealing the till from behind the bar at a pub in Chatham.

Officers were called to the Little Crown, in Chatham High Street, around 10.40pm yesterday to reports of the theft.

The police helicopter was deployed to help search for two men.

It is believed £299 was in the cash register, which was later recovered by officers.

A spokesman for Kent Police confirmed officers arrested Quinton Taylor, 18, in relation to the incident and he has now been charged with burglary other than a dwelling.

Taylor, of Ordnance Street, Chatham, has been bailed to appear before Magistrates in Medway on Tuesday, July 30.
