Solly Robinson charged with kidnap after car was stolen in Chatham with four-year-old child inside

A man has been charged with kidnap after a car was reportedly stolen with a four-year-old still inside it.

Officers investigating the theft in High Street, Chatham, last Friday, May 4, have charged Solly Robinson.

Robinson, who appeared before magistrates in Medway on Wednesday, has been charged with charged with kidnap, driving a vehicle without a licence or insurance and taking a vehicle without the owners’ consent.

Robinson, of of Rosemary Close, Chatham, was charged on Tuesday, May 8, following the incident at 4.45pm on Friday.

Officers received a report of the theft of the car and a child reported to be inside the vehicle at the time was then dropped off outside Chatham Railway Station.

Someone found the child safe and well and called the police who reunited the mother with the child by 5pm.

The stolen vehicle was later found abandoned in Rochester Street in Chatham.

Robinson was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday, June 6.
