Car cashes into traffic lights at the top of Chatham Hill at Rock Avenue

One lane of a road in Gillingham has been closed after a crash between two cars.

The accident happened at the top of Chatham Hill at the junction of Rock Avenue, earlier this morning, with one vehicle ending up crashing into traffic lights.

One car was left mounted on a traffic island sign and has lost its front bumper.

The accident happened opposite the Chatham Motor Company showroom on Chatham Hill.

The crash also resulted in a small oil spill on the road.

Motorists travelling along Rock Avenue to turn onto Chatham Hill could face slight delays.

Nicola Forman, spokesman for police said: "Kent Police was called at 8.21am to Rock Avenue, Gillingham, following reports of a two vehicle collision.

"One of the vehicles had then collided with some traffic lights.

"No injuries were reported and the cars are in the process of being recovered."
