Lord Lees Roundabout car fire causes long delays in Chatham near Blue Bell Hill

Rush hour commuters should expect long delays due to a vehicle fire at a busy roundabout.

The road between Lord Lees Roundabout, near Blue Bell Hill in Chatham, and the slip road by the M2 junction 3 Taddington Roundabout is currently closed due to reports of a car alight.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews were called at 4.10pm to reports of a vehicle alight off the A229 Blue Bell Hill, Chatham.

"One fire engine is attendance and crews wearing breathing apparatus are using hose reel jets to extinguish the flames."

Motorists are to expect long delays in the area.

Police have also been contacted for comment.

Earlier today there was another car fire outside a hotel.

It was also seen on the grass next to the A229 Chatham bound outside the Holiday Inn.
