A car smashed into parked cars in City Way, Rochester, last night and had to be winched away by firefighters.

The Seat car crashed at about 8pm and damaged two cars parked by the side of the road.

Firefighters from Strood were called out by police at about 8pm to help get the car off the road at it was blocking the carriageway.

It is believed a man in his 20s was driving the car, but he did not suffer any serious injury during the collision.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: "We have a mobile winch on the appliance so we fixed that up to a nearby tree and winched the vehicle off the road and away from the other cars.

"It had been blocking the road and traffic was building up in the area so the police asked us to come along and assist, we were on the scene for about half an hour."
