CAN you provide a venue free of charge so a party can be held in aid of the Medway Messenger's Get Cam to Oz campaign?

The family of seven-year-old Cameron Edmonds, who suffers from a muscle-wasting disease, have an offer of a disco for free but they desperately need a hall so they can hold the event on Saturday, October 13.

Cameron's illness is likely to leave him severely disabled and in need of full-time care by the time he reaches 18.

His one wish is to go to Australia and his parents have been busy raising the £10,800 needed for the six-week trip.

The family are due to fly out on Boxing Day. So far £6,300 has been raised but a further £4,500 is needed before Thursday, October 18 – the day the final balance is due.

His mother, Lisa, said: "We’d love it if someone could help us out by letting us use a venue free of charge - preferably where people can bring their own drink and food for the night."

Generous Medway Messenger readers have already donated £550 to the Get Cam to Oz campaign, a further £300 has been donated by people connected to the Sunshine Youth Club in Chatham and sponsorship money is also due from the club after members took part in an evening of sponsored activities.

A Body Shop party raised a further £160 and Luton Infant School, where Cameron is a pupil, is holding a cake sale today to try and boost funds further.

If you think you can provide a venue free of charge contact Lisa on 07788488463.

Cheques can also be made payable to Cameron Edmonds and sent to 76 Edinburgh Road, Chatham ME4 5BZ.
