Brentford reject Gillingham approach

Gillingham boss Mark Stimson is keen to bring Glenn Poole to Gillingham
Gillingham boss Mark Stimson is keen to bring Glenn Poole to Gillingham

Brentford manager Andy Scott insists he won’t be letting out-of-favour midfielder Glenn Poole join promotion rivals Gillingham.

The League 2 leaders rejected an offer for the 28-year-old from the Gills at the weekend but that failed to put manager Mark Stimson off.

Poole, who was a key player for Stimson during his time at Grays, was Brentford’s top scorer last season but has recently lost his place in the side to former Bromley player Sam Wood.

Speaking to the Richmond & Twickenham Times Scott said: “I’m not prepared to let any of my players go to one of our promotion rivals at this stage of the season.

“We are in a position where we neither need to let any of our players go or want to. Glenn doesn’t want to go, but I can understand he just wants to play football.

“Unfortunately the lads have been playing well, but his chance will come.”

Poole was an unused sub on the bench for Brentford on Tuesday night at Grimsby and he hasn’t started a game since January 10.
