It was reported the youngster demanded cash from the staff member behind the till and was carrying a knife.

The juvenile was arrested and charged this week following an investigation into the incident at the Ashwii Mini Market on November 7 last year.

He has been charged with one count of robbery and one count of possession of a knife in a public place after police were given authorisation from the Crown Prosecution Service.

A member of staff at the newsagent store told police they were threatened with the blade and told to give over the money.

The incident reportedly took place between 6.40pm and 7pm and CCTV evidence was reviewed by police who issued two appeals to track down the suspect.

He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court, sitting as a youth court, on Tuesday and was bailed to appear before Medway Youth Court on March 8.
