Chatham Bowl at the Pentagon Shopping Centre to reopen in August with Covid-19 safety measures

A popular bowling venue in Chatham is set to reopen next month with a few changes to make it Covid-19 secure.

Chatham Bowl, in the Pentagon Centre, will open its doors on Saturday, August 1 after more than three months closed.

It says bowling lanes will be spaced out between groups to allow for social distancing and hand sanitiser will be placed throughout the centre.

All food will now come with disposable packaging which players are encouraged to order through an app.

Bosses also say the balls will be cleaned between each game and guests can use track and trace facilities when booking online.

Commenting on the closure, General Manager, Tracie O’Sheen said: “The team and I can't wait to get the doors open again and provide some safe family fun to all our customers. Our new focus on 'at your lane service' will mean people can enjoy bowling and have everything brought to them with just a few clicks of our app.”

The company managing director, Pete Terry, commented: "We have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure all safety procedures and Covid requirements are surpassed so that our customers and families can concentrate on having a great bowling experience once again. We found the people of Chatham loved the changes we made to this bowl and we were blown away by their support when we took over. We’ve taken the time to make a few more changes whilst closed and can't wait to welcome people once again."

The centre on High Street was taken over by Disco Bowl in February last year after the collapse of the MFA Bowl UK chain.

Plans are in place for the centre to receive a major refurbishment and bring it up to date with the company's other centres across the UK,
