Snow in Kent: Medway bin men spotted having a snowball fight with Lordswood children

Bin men have been spotted having a snowball fight with children while on their rounds.

A neighbour caught what she described as a "wholesome" moment this morning in Lordswood, Chatham, as the snow causes chaos across the county.

Niamh said: "I just caught this very cute moment of the refuse workers playing a snowball fight with some kids at the bottom of our close while in between jobs.

"I am hoping everyone seeing how hard-working they are to be out in this weather and it is nice to see them enjoy themselves.

"Great work to stay warm while out and about. It is very wholesome."

She snapped the fight this morning in Merton Close as many children are staying at home today due to school closures.

Medway Council told residents today it will be running a full waste collection as usual but said it may take longer due to the weather conditions.

After heavy snowfall last night and this morning, there is an ice warning for the county in place until 11am tomorrow with the Met Office warning people of risks of falling on slippery surfaces.

Travellers faced severe disruption yesterday and have been warned to expect more of the same today.

But it's also meant a day of fun in the snow for children across the county as schools have been forced to close.
