This adventurous moggy has been reunited with his owner after wandering out of his home after a burglary.

Two-and-a-half-year-old house cat Arthur, of Sunnymead Avenue, Gillingham, decided to go for a walk after his owners’ home was broken into on Wednesday, April 28.

Before then he had only ever ventured as far as the back garden.

He was found last week hiding in a garage close to his home after owners Diane and Ken Brookes handed out more than 200 posters in their area.

The Medway Messenger also printed an appeal.

Mrs Brookes said: “We would like to thank everybody who phoned us to say they had seen him. Everyone has been so kind. It gives you faith in human nature.”

The couple had been worried that the thief, who took cash, cards and a digital camera, may have also stolen the British cream-coloured long-haired cat.

Mrs Brookes added: “I now know that the people who came in did not take him, that was worrying me.

“I just cannot believe he is back with us. He is still very nervous and is hiding in the cupboard as we speak, but he is home.

“Your (Medway Messenger) article helped. We had people calling us from all over, even people living on St Mary’s Island.”
