Two arrested after armed police close Ingle Road, Chatham

Two men have been arrested after armed police officers closed a road this afternoon.

Officers were called to Ingle Road, Chatham, at 12.11pm to a report of a person being seen with what appeared to be a firearm.

A police spokesman said: "Officers, including armed officers, attended the scene and a safety cordon was put in place.

"Two men have been arrested and an imitation firearm has been recovered.

"While responding to the incident, a man became unwell and required medical assistance which was immediately provided. South East Coast Ambulance Service were called to assist and the man has been taken to a local hospital."

Officers would like to speak to the driver of a dark-coloured vehicle, possibly a seven-seater car, which was reported to be in the area at the time of the incident.

They believe the motorist may have important information which could assist their inquiries.
